A few tips, sized to your tree and your patience for a DIY project.

Its wide base and sturdy bolts grip even a crooked or uneven trunk, so the tree stays put — no wobbling, no last-minute propping against the wall.

3–5ft trees are a one-person job. 6–7ft goes easier with a second pair of hands. 8ft and up needs two people minimum, and anything 10ft or taller should sit on a pallet under the stand for extra stability. First time setting one up? Grab a helper no matter the size.

Have a broom within reach for stray needles. On carpet, lay a blanket down first, and slip a small rug or cloth under the stand to protect your floor from scratches and spilled water.

Your tree arrives netted — keep it that way while you get it positioned and secured. Once it's locked into the stand, cut the net away and let the branches fall open naturally.

Even though it's freshly cut at delivery, trimming a couple of centimetres off the base before you stand it up opens the trunk back up for better water uptake — worth the extra minute.

If you've ordered a Cinco stand or left one out for us, we'll set the tree up while you're away. Just leave 1–2 litres of water in a bucket nearby for us to add once it's in place.

A Cinco stand makes for the smoothest install, especially with an irregular trunk. Add one to your order, or use your own — though our drivers may decline to install on a non-Cinco stand or one that's seen better days.

Please make sure the install area is clear and safe — our drivers will hold off if the setup looks risky.

A spot near your door keeps things quick — especially handy in inner Melbourne, where parking can be tight.

Keep a broom and some water handy — we'd suggest topping the stand up with around 3 litres afterwards, and a blanket underneath will protect your floor.
